Drawing the Line

I've said this before, but I really love tunics. I love that the long hemlines hit me just below the hips. They hide my fat tummy and (in my opinion) make my legs look a little longer. I have tunics in pretty much every color, but I feel like I can never have enough ;P

You'll also see layering here, which is key for me. I have a specific idea of modesty for myself (you do you; I really don't care) and that includes no plunging necklines, so this pretty tunic got the tanktop treatment. Fortunately, I found this gray tunic that matches the gray lace almost perfectly. When I line the necklines up perfectly, many people think it's one piece, and that's always a bonus.

The colors in this shirt are also great. They give me a lot of play room for pairing purses and shoes, though in this case, I went pretty conservative with my white Vera Wang and a pair of saddle shoes. The greatest thing about this shirt is that I can dress it up even more than this and also way down, so it's pretty versatile, which makes it a staple in my suitcase when I travel :)

About the Look

Starting with the shirt, I got it new from Dressbarn for $35 about ten years ago. Considering how long I've had it and how often I wear it, I'd say that $35 was well worth the cost. The only real signs of wear it has is the little silver beads on the neckline are coming loose, but that's nothing a needle and some gray thread can't fix.

The pants I admittedly splurged on. They're eggshell-colored jeans from Target that come in new at $25. Like most of my pants, if they fit my waist, they're tight in my hips, but that's what tunics are for XD

I'm not sure if I've mentioned these saddle shoes before, so I'll do the whole shebang. I originally bought a pair from Payless when they were going out of business, and I loved them so much that I literally walked their soles off. I knew I needed another pair, but no price could compete with the $10 I paid for my OG pair. Sadly, if I wanted new ones, I had to pony-up. The ones I have now were $50 from Amazon, but they have memory foam insoles, which my old ones did not have, so I figure it almost evens out.

My jewelry here is pretty simple; a faux pearl pendant ringed by "diamonds" and a pair of "diamond" drop earrings. They're both pretty classy and will go with just about anything, though I think this is the first and only time I paired them together like this. I'm wondering if I forgot my usual necklace for these earrings or if I just wanted to be different. Who knows?
